Preggo Products

1/2/3/4/5/6/7

I am by no means an expert at pregnancy, but I liked looking at lists like these
when I first found out I was expecting, so I thought I would let you know what has worked for me!

1.This Kiehl's lotion is AMAZING! I just got it for Christmas so I haven't been using it the whole time but I love it and use it everyday.  It smells like heaven and I haven't found anything better for my dry pregnant skin.  I fully believe that if you are genetically prone to get stretchmarks, you are going to get stretchmarks no matter what you do but moisturizing will still help with appearance of them.  This stuff is way pricey so wait till you find a good sale to buy it.

2. At least two good pairs of maternity pants.  I bought a pair of maternity jeans at Target and I hated them so much. So I went to Gap and got both a black skinny pant and some maternity jeans and I have loved both.  Gap is actually where I have bought all my maternity clothes. Everything is really soft and doesn't misshape when it stretches and of course they have really good sales. You are going to have to wear these every single day by the end so make sure you get a couple pairs you really like and are comfortable.

3. I have used Philosophy bath soap since before I was pregnant but it smells so good, and is the perfect body wash.  It also doubles as bubble bath when you need a good soak, and aren't allowed to go in hot tubs.  I like to bath before I go to bed sometimes, helps me sleep better.  There are about a bajillion different   smells (flavors?) so you can pick your favorite.  Mine is melon daiquiri.

4.  I was really really sick and nauseous and have been the whole time.  There is nothing like a giant horse vitamin (prenatal vitamin) to make you feel like throwing up.  I literally could not take the vitamins at the beginning of my pregnancy without getting sick.  Someone recommended gummy vitamins and they worked great, tasted decent and didn't make me (as) nauseous.  Brought me back to the good old Costco Flinstone Vitamin stage of my life.

5.  Boppy Pillow. Ok here are my thoughts on the pregnancy pillows. It really helped a lot at first, but then I got some major neck pain from mine.  I still sleep with it every night just never lay my head on it and use my regular pillow for that.  The best thing about it is that it doesn't let me roll onto my back (you are not supposed to sleep on your back after 22 weeks).  I would recommend some type of body pillow but I think just a regular cheap body pillow from Target would do the trick.

6. Throwing up hundreds of times makes you dehydrated and your throat burn.  Popsicle's and Ginger Ale have been lifesavers when you can't keep anything down but need some hydration. I tried other nausea helpers like ginger candies, jolly ranchers, peppermints but nothing really worked for me.

7.  My regular pre-pregnancy tank tops were the first things to go.  They felt so tight and got way too short way too fast.  I LOVE these Target Liz Lange tank tops.  They come in all different colors, fit really nicely all the way from 18 weeks to where I am now and they are thick and not see through so you can just wear that and a cute cardigan which has been my go-to.  They are only like 13 bucks and I highly recommend you get a couple of these.

My other recommendations not pictured are slippers, some extra large drawstring sweatpants and then anything you can to make you feel good and pretty.

I know everyone is different, what were your pregnancy lifesavers?

Baby Making: 30.5 Weeks

My one and only bare belly shot.  My bellybutton is enveloping itself.

Big News around here!! Me and my besties all pregnant at the same time!
Duchess Kate, Kim K and me are all thrilled and couldn't have planned this better!
This is going to be a hard play group to get into let me tell you!

10 weeks to go! 10 weeks to go!
It is coming very fast now, especially due to the fact that I will be leaving back to Canada
at 36 weeks to go up there to deliver.
It is pretty stressful and Ben is going to just come up when "it's time"
but we could really use the whole it being free thing, so we are taking advantage.

The third trimester has brought some new fun; heartburn
(which I thoroughly believe I get only when I am cold, sounds crazy but it's true)
as well as leg cramps, some new stretch marks and being pathetically tired again.
And then there are the old friends like nausea and throwing up almost daily,
not being able to sleep and nothing sounding appetizing.

Also simple things are becoming quite hard.
Such as painting my nails, putting on socks, and sneezing without peeing a little.
Other than all that I feel great!!

I know I complain a lot but I really do like being pregnant for the most part
and although I definitely don't feel the glow all the time,
it is an overall experience I feel so lucky to be able to have.
I really do feel blessed because I know some women aren't able to experience this,
I try to think about that when I am feeling so sick of being sick.

I am still feeling pretty unprepared when it comes to the nursery and stuff,
we did make our first "big" purchase with a car seat and stroller.
I get butterflies every time I look over in that corner and see them all ready waiting for baby.
Means we are getting close.
I am hoping to have the nursery almost completely done before I head up to Canada though.
I am definitely getting the 'nesting bug' and want to clean and organize everything in our house.
Although the urge is rivaled closely by the 'holy-crap-I-am-tired bug'
so it is a vicious cycle on what wins out that particular day.

Some other notes from the past few weeks.

Craving: fancy root beer-the glass bottle stuff (I have not had root beer for years before this),
cereal and still ORANGES
Travelling for 12 hours in a car at 29 weeks was not fun, the 36 week trip should be interesting
I am on doctor #3 due to delivering in Canada, switching insurance etc.
Baby kicked more than I have ever felt during Le Mis, it seriously kicked the entire movie,
loves him some Jean Valjean I guess.
Baby shower in Provo is in the works and I am SO excited, my friends are best!
We went to three movies in three days last week, gotta get that stuff in while we can.

had to get creative here, because who the heck knows where to get a real rutabaga

This is Ben's shirt, his closet is so comfortable these days

A New Year

Well 2013 is potentially going to be the biggest year of my life so far.
I am going to have a baby in a few short months,
and I am pretty sure it is going to be crazy and hard and amazing and hard and so so fun!
So instead of making resolutions for myself this year, I am just going to
"try a little harder to be a little better"
and that is it.
I want to be a little more positive, a little more content and a little more thoughtful.

There is so much that I am looking forward to this year;
Giving Birth (kinda)
I can't wait to see Ben become a dad and my parents become grandparents.
I'm looking forward to see how our relationship changes and grows as a family of three.
I'm looking forward to each change that we will get to see right before our eyes-
first smile, first laugh, first word, first roll, first everything.

2013 is going to be the best one yet!

So this is Christmas

My favorite
Christmas is always wonderful, and it went by way too fast this year!
We spent a white Christmas in Canada, it was so nice to have Matt back for Christmas this year
and we had family visiting from Kansas so it was a full house.
Literally.
On Christmas Eve we had 49 people at our house!

It was anywhere from -10 to -17 degrees Farenheit while we were home
and our car would barley start every morning but it was worth it having a white Christmas.
our yard

We ate delicious food, played some epic games of warewolf, set up the Christmas village, did last minute Christmas shopping, organized a nativity with like 30 kids under nine, enjoyed a perfect Christmas morning, went sledding (well some of us),  played some serious ping-pong on our new table, had a night long rook tournament, settled Catan almost every day and relaxed as much as we could.
My grandma's village
Christmas morning
Cousins!
This pic does not do it justice, but this was the most amazing tree we have ever had, and it was real!
The nativity
Giving my Christmas PJ's a workout

I also got to spend a lot of time with my little sister Hailey who I miss so much when I am not home.

We had to leave before New Years because Ben had to work, it is always so hard to leave my house and there are always tears in the driveway but I am so grateful we had the time there we did.

I love Christmas and this was a good one.

Happy New Year to All!
2013 is going to be a big one for us and I cannot wait!

I know everyone and their blog is doing a "year in review" post  and I am absolutely jumping on the bandwagon.

It is always nice to look back and see all that you have done in a year,
going through pictures from the last year has reminded me just how blessed I am!

Also I realize this is a day or two late, and a post for New Years before I even posted about Christmas but were just a little behind over here.
